Brhat Maithili Sabdakosa

Brihat Maithili Shabdakosh is a comprehensive, historical and comparative bi-lingual dictionary of the Maithili language. It is an ambitious attempt to present every word in Maithili as spoken in its home districts of North Bihar and Nepal Terai and as used in literature for about a thousand years. It has been conceived scientifically and executed most assiduously, following the tradition of the great pioneer dictionaries in different Indian Language. It gives full explanation of the words in Maithil as well as their equivalents in English. Moreover, it traces the etymology of native words, through their social and cultural milieu and establish relationship with cognate words in Maithili and other Indo-Aryan languages.
